Problem 10.6 - Shear Stress

Problem Statement

A T-beam has dimensions b1 = 1 in., b2 = 9 in., h1 = 6 in., and h2 = 1 in. If the shear force at this section is V = 5 kips, determine the shear stress at section a-a.

A T beam has a height of h1+h2 and an upper width of b2. Top of the T has a base of b2 and a height of h2, and the stem of the T has a height of h1 and a base of b1.
