Problem 6.5 - Torsional Stress

Problem Statement

Two torques ,TB = 0.6 kip-ft and TC = 0.3 kip-ft, are applied to the hollow pipe as shown. If L = 1 ft., ro = 2.5 in., and ri = 2 in., determine the maximum shear stress in the pipe.

Two torques are applied to a hollow piped attached to the wall. The pipe has inner radius r[i] and outer radius r[o]. The torque T[B] is applied at a distance L from the wall. The torque T[C] is applied at a distance L from T[B] at the free end.
