Problem 2.4 - Average Normal Stress

Problem Statement

A crate weighing 45 kN is suspended by a set of cables. The diameter of each cable is 30 mm. What is the maximum stress in any cable, excluding the cable attached to the crate.

Picture with a crate suspended by a set of cables. Two cables originate from point A, with one cable pointing upwards forming a 30° angle with the horizontal, and another cable pointing to the right forming a 45° angle with the horizontal. A third cable starts from point B and points downward, making a 75° angle with the horizontal. [Problem adapted from © Kurt Gramoll CC BY NC-SA 4.0]
